I just upgraded, and the speed for converting vinyl has dropped from 14X to .02X. This is not acceptable. Can anyone tell me how to fix it, or how to get my old version of ITunes back? It looks like from the posts here, that version 9 was not ready to be released.

What is the best way to upgrade iTunes? ...

I'm currently running iTunes 8.0.2.20 to work with my iPod Touch 2G and Nano 4G. All is working quite well so I'm rather hesitant about upgrading. But more and more content is requiring an upgrade to the latest iTunes version. If I decide to take the leap, what is the best route for upgrading, ensuring that my music is not lost and that I can revert back to my current version if something goes wrong? I know to backup my library. I try to do that regularly. Should I uninstall my current version and all other Apple associated programs, download new version and install OR do the upgrade from within my current version of iTunes?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could not open key UNKNOWN ...

I am having a problem upgrading from iTunes 9.0.07 to 9.0.2. I've been trying to use the 64-bit installer and have tried disabling my anti-virus software.
I had this same problem when I was running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit on this same computer.
At first, when I would download, I had to Download Only and then install.
When I tried to install iTunes manually, it would load very slowly at Copying Files and then say it was Rolling Back Action. After that, it would say that, "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured."
I tried everything people suggested on help forums, the discussions here, and the Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows help article in Support.
After uninstalling iTunes, making a backup of my iTunes music from Documents and getting rid of anything else iTunes, QuickTime or Apple related, I tried downloading again from the website (using Firefox). I had the problem that iTunes said it couldn't be downloaded without QuickTime. Okay, easy fix, right? I tried downloading and installing QuickTime and these errors came up:

Could not open key:

iTunes 9.0.2.25 and Windows 7 not ...

I have spent ages on this with no luck. Followed Apple instructions to uninstall iTunes, QuickTime etc. in order, rebooted, deleted folders ect. No matter what I do the install does not install the Mobile Device Support folder and subsequently the service Apple Mobile Device isn't installed or running. Installed iTunes with firewall and virus on and off. I am my wits end. iTunes, naturally, reports that I my iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed.

Help please.

iTunes upgrade cannot locate most music ...

After downloading and installing the latest version of iTunes (9.0.2.25), most music files in my library cannot be found when I try to play them from my laptop library. I can fix these individually if I am willing to navigate to each of the thousands of songs, redefining the path for iTunes, but there must be a simpler way. Otherwise I never want to update to a new version of iTunes again.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Itunes - Windows 7 Intallation issue ...

I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP last night. Becasue there is no direct upgrade from Win XP to Win 7 I did a new fresh install starting with a new hard drive. The install went fine until I went to install Itunes. Downloaded the latest Itunes and started the install. A good way into the install, I'm getting the following error message:

"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x800736FD."

Following this message, the installer reverses the installation process and after a 5-10 minute wait, a screen comes up that says the Itunes installation was complete. Obviously it wasn't but that is what the message says. When you close out of that message, Itunes tries to start and this message pops up:

"Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall itunes, then install iTunes again.
Error 2"

I have uninstalled and retried the installation process multiple times with the exact same result. I have downloaded the installation file from the iTunes website 3 different times and retried each one to make sure that I didn't have a problem with the installation file.

iTunes and Quicktime both show up in the program list but when you click to open them the Application support error message appears.

When looking at the registry Bonjour, iPod, iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Mobile Device Support, and CoreFP all have entries.

Does anybody have any idea on what is going on here? This is getting really frustrating.

Unable to upgrade iTunes -- please help! ...

Hi there -

I am having trouble upgrading to iTunes 9.0.2

It comes up with a message saying something along the lines of:
the older version of itunes cannot be removed, please contact tech support

contacting tech support is unfortunately even more long-winded than copying all my music into a new folder, manually deleting all reminents of my old iTunes and then downloading the newest iTunes, so if anyone's got any ideas about what's causing this to happen or any way to fix the problem in a simple way, then all help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Nikki

iTunes 9 install issues, now iTunes ...

I tried to upgrade to iTunes 9 today but it failed to install using the auto-update tool, so as the tool suggested, I tried going manual. It installed, but gave me the "iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support." error every time I plugged in my iPod Touch, and advised me to uninstall and reinstall iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Support.

I successfully uninstalled iTunes, though the Apple Mobile Device support is being stubborn, and seems not to uninstall properly, remaining on the list of programs in the control panel.

I tried running both the manual install file (iTunes64Setup.exe) and the extracted AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi, and neither work, even though I have the AMDS service stopped in the Services panel in the control panel. The progress bar sits for a while near the finish and then rolls back, and tells me that there was an error with the install.

The error message says:

iTunes installer Completed
The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.

Your system could not be modified. To retry these operations at another time (etc.)

Any help would be appreciated!

Importing music previously ripped by ...

Why is it that importation of music which was previously ripped by RealPlayer does not yield the inclusion of artist and album identifiers? I am tired of RealPlayer loosing tracks, and so want to now use iTunes. However, when I installed iTunes 8.2.0.23, and imported the music already stored on the hard drive of my computer, only the track names were imported. Now, I have 2500 tracks available, but no way to sort them by album name within artist name. That means, all of the first tracks are listed in the library, then all of the second tracks are listed, and this continues for all tracks. Why could iTunes not be designed to first review the file structure (and allow me to intervene) so that the album name and artist name could be included with the track name. My structure is /audio/music/artist/album/track, and I would have expected iTunes to be smart enough that the artist and album information could be copied into the iTunes library listing, along with the track name.

Now the its doing the same to my iPod, rewriting 50 gigs to the device.

iTunes 32-bit upgrade to iTunes 64-bit ...

Hi there!
I have a question about upgrading iTunes from 32-bit to 64-bit on Windows.
As I always do when I reformat my computer I save my "iTunes Library.itl" files and all those other files, backup my iTunes Music folder etc. Then I re-install iTunes on the new computer and put the iTunes Music folder and the library files back into their places and iTunes works just fine.

My question is this. I'm curently upgrading from Vista 32-bit to Win7 64-bit.
I can probaly keep using iTunes 32-bit in Win7 64-bit but what's the point. I have to make the transition some time anyway. So my question is. Can I do as I always do, install iTunes 32-bit in Win7 64-bit, as my files and then install iTunes 64-bit over the 32-bit installation? Or can a clean iTunes 64-bit installation use my old "iTunes Library.itl" files etc from my 32-bit installation of iTunes?

I hope this makes any sens.

New PC, new library location, playlist ...

Hello, I had to replace my hard drive off my Vista machine. I was able to save the XML file of each playlist. I installed iTunes 64bit on my Win7 machine, copied all the music back over. Now here is my dilema, I have duplicates of songs and dead link songs in my library. I already have iTunes to copy files when files are added to my iTunes. I also have have iTunes managing the files and folders of my library as well. Now what I didn't realize was at one point I did not have iTunes on my old machine set to copy the files into the iTunes directory when files are added. So my playlists are pointing to old directories instead of one main directory. Is there a way to synchronize the playlist so they can point to the new library directory. I don't want to recreate my playlists. (EEK!) also how can i filter through the duplicates so i can remove the files and also clear track dead links? Thank you
