Application Errors when running iTunes ...

I am getting the following Errors in Windows when running iTunes 9. Seems to only occur when I want to view anything in the iTunes store or when listening to any music in my library that was purchased from the store.

I have removed and reinstalled the product.
I have been successful in replicating this issue on 2 other Windows 7 and Vista machines.
I am running the Windows 7 Pro RTM 32bit (not the RC or Beta) and Vista Business SP2. All 3 machines worked fine before the upgrade to iTunes 9.

Silent Install ...

I've looked everywhere to no avail- I would like to include iTunes in our school image, but I cannot find a silent install script anywhere that will work with the new version iTunes and Quicktime. I have a site license for iTunes, but when I asked for help deploying it, the person I spoke with was unsure of how to do this and sent me here for support. Please help- I would like to have iTunes not choose itself as the default media player, so I need a way to install and set default settings. Thank you!

Itune won't uninstall, install, ...

I have a lot of issues with itunes so i'm not really sure where to post, but the main ones are installing and uninstalling.

When i open itunes (version 7.something) i get a message saying it wasn't installed properly and so cannot import music from cd's. When i connect my ipod video another message appears saying itunes wasn't installed properly and so cannot connect/sync to my ipod. Also when i agree to update to version 9 nothing happens, i click update and the message disappears.

It recommended uninstalling and then reinstalling itunes.
However when i go to add/remove programs all the itunes related programs appear (updater. bonjour quicktime etc.) except itunes itself.
So i tried to manually delete the files but when i try to trash the itunes folder it tells me that i do not have access to do that and that they are protected files.
I have tried using registery cleanup programs but that does not get rid of the old itunes files.

I then tried to upgrade to version 9 by downloading the pack from apple website. Everything runs fine until this error message appears -
Error writing to file: H:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\default\pref\itms.js. Verify that you have access to that directory.

Clicking retry just makes the message appear again and cancel undoes the installation.
I have already looked for help on a firefox support forum and they told me i should look for help here.
Please help me.

I am using an admin account and security is avast!on-access scanner and spybot-search and destroy.

Registry Settings error ...

I recently got the following error when starting iTunes:

The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.

Yes i did recently install nero so that explains the error fine. But my problem is in fixing the error. I've tried many times to reinstall itunes with no luck. I've also tried the repair utility aswell with no luck. Where I'm at now is I've removed nero and all apple products from my pc and have deleted any leftover folders in programfiles and (x86). I've then reinstalled iTunes but once again get the same error on starting iTunes. Is there something in the registry that the itunes uninstaller is missing? Is there an iTunes removal utility that deletes any leftover registry settings?

Thank you in advance for any help in this matter.

Updated to itunes 9: now Airtunes ...

I unfortunately do not recall the last version of itunes I had.... it wasn't very old though.

The only reason I updated to 9 last night was the itunes store forced me to in order to get a new episode. Anyways...

after the update, upon starting iTunes, i get this dialogue:

"The software required for communication with this ipod is not installed correctly...."

Then it asks me if I want it to repair. I say yes and it supposedly repairs it. If I restart itunes, it will say this error every single time.

I also cannot connect to my Airpor Express as a speaker output. it is listed, and when I select it, it brings up the 'connecting' dialogue which goes on FOREVER until I cancel it. ***?!?

I've uninstalled itunes, apple application support AND apple mobile device support and reinstalled itunes. I've unplugged the airport express; re-configured it using the Airport utility, updated the firmware and still I have both of these problems after all this.

WHY OH WHY did itunes make my update to download new store episodes...

Can anybody help me diagnose this?

Thanks
Ryan

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installer package 'iTunes64.msi' in the box below.

I found the itunes64.msi thing but it still didn't work.

I also get this message when I try to install a new version, update the current version, uninstall it, or re-install it.

A very common answer to this is to download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. Only problem is, I'm having problems running that program. I tried running it as an administrator too. The msicuu2 file gave me the 800A01B0 error.

Also, I don't have a problem downloading anything else, so don't say my computer is messed up.

When in list View I lose the Volume control at the top in fact the whole top of iTunes disappears (with the exception of anything above the left hand slide bar.(if you don't have one you don't have enough playlists)) . This means I do not have a search bar on the right hand side and do not ever know who is playing. Also on the left hand side I don't get a speaker symbol next to the track thats playing. Help with uninstall of itunes 9 vista 64 ...

I just built a new computer and installed iTunes. It installed without a clich, but when I connected my iPhone I would get an error in itunes, saying it could not connect to my iPhone because of the error "itunes cannot connect to this iphone because of a unknown error(0x8000065)". While troubleshooting the problem I noticed that I loaded the 32 bit version not the 64 bit version, so I removed itunes 32 bit version and loaded the 64bit version. Unfortunately this did not solve the problem so I started troubleshooting using apple's recommendations on their site. Well, I installed and ran the windows uninstaller program at one point and now itunes does not show up in the control panel. I called apple tech support and they suggested reloading itunes, well now it won't load and gives an error of "could not open key: UNKNOWN\components\DA...... verify that you have sufficient access to that key". But I am signed on as an administrator. Apple tech support said he couldn't help at this point and that I should contact microsoft.

Now I'm trying to uninstall itunes, but it isn't listed in the Control Panel or on the Win uninstaller program.

How can I uninstall itunes if it doesn't show up in the Control Panel?

If you are among the many that has the error about a dll file not found, you might want to look at this thread and try the reccomended fix (installing an update to directX).

http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10400226#10400226

But BEFORE you do, make sure you aren't already using a version of directX that is higher than that shown (click start, run, and type dxdiag then enter. this is the directX diagnostic tool built into Windows.). The link in that thread is to Microsoft's download page for updating directX9.0c and all PREVIOUS versions.

However, if you're in any way like me, and have been maintaining your computer somewhat diligently, you are already using directX version 10. This fix probably doesn't apply in this situation, and needs further analysis from both Microsoft and Apple.

Good luck! Post your results, please, so that we can all benefit and resolve this annoying error!

I have re-downloaded several versions of iTunes, yet each time when I click on either the icon or the list of search results, the same message shows up. This is all very frustrating and I just need some help in resolving it.

Recently, as I am not the only user of this computer, we found our files to be partially corrupted and/or infected, and my mother had a friend from her work clean it up. It continues to show this. I originally installed iTunes from my thumbdrive, the J drive, to my PC. Windows Vista. One day, I bought the 3.0 OS thing for my iPod Touch 2.0? iTunes Store Layout ...

I just wanted to say that I absolutely, completely and totally despise it. The scrolling is much less economical than the "page change". When you search for a TV show, the results only show HD purchases and you can't even browse to the Standard format from the search results. I deeply resent this obvious marketing ploy to try and force me pay for the more expensive option.

I do not subscribe to regular tv of any kind. I purchase all of my media individually. I much prefer downloads to a physical copy. It easier, takes up less space, and leaves a smaller carbon footprint. However, purchasing used from 2nd hand resale shops is also a perfectly viable option and I have one less than 2 miles away that is fantastic.

Stop being stupid, your target market is not your average idiot.

When it gets to the "removing applications" part, it cannot find "itunes.msi". I have searched for this and found several "itunes.msi", but non of them are working. It comes up with "The file 'c:\Documents and settings...\itunes.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. Try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes."
I have tried everything I can... I have even considered deleting all the iTunes programs that I have installed (except the music).
What should I do to allow iTunes 9 to install?

Every time I've tried to update to version 9 of iTunes Quicktime i get about 4 instances of error messages saying:

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2503.

it then proceeds to give this message for error code 2502 and does this for both errors another 4 times (5 times total) during the attempted installation before telling me that it was unable to complete and the original version would be restored.

i tried downloading the exe and had the same problem there. So i then attempted to remove all of iTunes 8 and quicktime through the add/remove function in windows, and got the same error message! so whatever it is has to do with iTunes 8.2.1.6 as well as quicktime. i can't get rid of either of them. and help would be great

Itunes upgraded to 9 now itunes store ...

I was basicly forced to updated to itunes 9 cause I wanted to buy something off the store and as soon as I did so now itunes store no longer loads properly.

Basicly what I mean when the store no longer loads is that at itunes start up it basicly gets the normal connecting to itunes store at the top with the loading bar it sits at 50% for about 10-20 seconds and then the bar vanishes. The Itunes store area that normaly shows the info basicly just sits white for about a min or so and then will show start showing the store section to partly load. It will have the normal menu selection's at the top like music movies ect but the actual content isnt loading correctly. At the top of the page the ad's for tv shows and movies take up the whole pane like giant banner adds and there will be about 6 or so of those then there will be smaller show images about the size of a buisness card.

Then theres a semi large gap and then individual show/music/movie listings appear basicly one show above the other all down the left side of the itunes store screen basicly it will go one item then below it is the next item these icons are about normal size as you would see on the store.

I cant seem to figure out what is going on I attempted to uninstall everything multiple times with no luck and as far as I can tell my firewall and virus scanner isnt interfearing with itunes cause I turned them off durning install/uninstall as well as running itunes in general. I tried running itunes threw my router as normal as well as directly pluged into my modem with no changes in how it loads.

I attempted to refresh my DNS threw my router and threw windows with no change and I basicly done everything else thats basicly listed in the support section that I could find that had any hint of my issue but honestly theres not a single thing listed that is related to my problem. I would post images of what is going on but I dont know how to do so on this brand of message boards so hopefully I described what was going on best I could.

I can not manually start Itunes either. If I disconnect my Itouch, then kill Itunes from the task manager, then I can manually start Itunes.

When I manually start Itunes, I get a message that says "The registry settings used by Itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall Itunes".

I have tried to reinstall Itunes several times with no success. I tried both a repair and remove and install and had the same problems.

I am working on a brand new Dell computer and I also had a problem with Roxio Creator Home that it did not recognize the CD/DVD drives so I had to uninstall Roxio and re-install Roxio. I think Itunes worked before I re-installed Roxio. I am not sure if installing Itunes broke Roxio or not because the first time I tried Roxio, I had already installed Itunes. Are there incompatibility issues between Roxio and Itunes? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

For many of us there is an error when ...

Apple Application Support was not found. ...

I use Windows XP Pro.

When prompted that an update for iTunes was available (I think to 9), I went through the steps to do that. I also chose to update Quick Time; I did not chose to install Safari.
After the installation was complete (I just let it run, I did not sit at my computer and watch it), iTunes was not on my screen, only a box to reboot; I rebooted.
When I signed on, and tried to open iTunes I got the message "Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2"

The iTunes stuff is my kids accounts; I do not have an account of my own. Each kid has an account that they access through their own login account on our home computer. I do not want to loose their Libraries.
If I "uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again" won't that wipe out their Libraries? I do not want to do that unless absolutely necessary.
BUT.......when I look in the Program Directory, I do not see a Library file now. Has the file already been destroyed by the "supposed" upgrade; some upgrade!!!

I Googled the error and got information on the Apple Discussion Board that I should do the following:
1. Download and install WinRAR.
2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally
I did that; problem is, there is NO "iTunesSetup.exe" file on my hard drive, so I can't even try that.

After logging in with my own Apple ID, I tied to find the thread that had this info, but could not find it.

Can anyone help my kids???

Thanks

iTunes 8.2

Hey all,

I just wanted to provide the latest updated installer pack for those of you wanting or needing iTunes 8.2 on Windows Server 2003.

This update is especially useful for those of you with an iPhone and a desire to upgrade to the newly released 3.0 firmware as this firmware update requires iTunes 8.2.

Sorry its a bit behind the firmware update even though the iTunes update was released a few days ago now, life's been... busy.

While I know we all hate reading user agreements and the like, I ask that you read all information provided from the self extracting zip file's dialog so that you understand the changes made and what risks you may or may not be taking.

Anyway the installer can be found here:

Clean install of iTunes 9 fixes problems ...

I upgraded to iTunes 9 and immediately noticed a drop in performance:

1. The 1-click download feature (which we are now forced to use) took forever to add new songs. I mean several minutes just to add it to the download queue.

2. Downloading songs would take 20-30 minutes.

3. When songs finished downloading it would say "Processing..." and then just hand there forever.

Restarting iTunes 9 caused those songs that were processing to disappear. I finally decided to uninstall everything apple and reinstall iTunes 9. This seems to have fixed the issues that I have noted above. If you're on Windows XP. I would recommend uninstalling iTunes/Quicktime/Etc. and doing a clean install.

Can anybody help me diagnose this?

iTunes store settings ...

I've been trying to set up iTunes on my laptop. It appears to be installed now, but the black task bar has only "Apps", "iTunesU" and my user name. The other categories, eg. "Music" are absent. I've tried to fix it by going to "View" and "View Options", but the latter is not highlighted, therefore not functional. Is there a problem with my installation? Does the fact that I am doing this in South Africa have anything to do with it?

Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?" I click yes, and it says it couldn't fix the problem.

I followed the instructions here (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) to completely uninstall itunes and quicktime and all supporting components, including mobileme and bonjour and then reinstalled iTunes9 using the setup file downloaded from apple.com. Still no luck! I get the same error when I start iTunes.

any suggestions? Help! Should I go back to the older version of iTunes?

btw, when I uninstalled iTunes, I kept my library files and two plugins around: last.fm scrobbler and mmkeys. Does this matter? I don't think so: I tried removing the plugins and I still got the same error.

I'm running Vista 64bit, and I used the 64 bit installer.

Thanks

Itunes on Vista (DEP error) ...

Hello,

I am new to Itunes and have read several topics on this error, that was supposedly solved in the newer versions.

I installed itunes yesterday and managed to get my music onto and that was fine until i restarted my computer, at which point i got the DEP message at which point my computer froze after trying several times to solve it.

upon restart my harddisk was not recognised and (not responding). I recived this screen, and then after restarting through Safe mode then recieved a windows crashed message saying that new software had caused this. ( the blue screen).

So i managed to get onto windows (6 hrs later through many start-up system repairs). Unistalled Itunes, quicktimes etc.

Tried through several threads about deleting quicktime, installing newest version over itunes and so on and so forth without any success.. Just the common DEP message and sometimes computer crash. Which wont allow me to start windows!!

It has become very frustrating and extremely time consuming, at which point i have back everything up now and cleaned entire computer to avoid another of these crashes.

I have Windows 32 Vista, Dell Inspirion 1525, 4gb ram, intel core duo 2.00ghz which i was told upon purchasing ipod that was sufficient.

Is the problem APPLE or DELL- DELL have said its a software problem btw?

Each time I attempt to open iTunes an error message pops up saying:

QuickTime 7.6.2 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime 7.6.4 or later

However Ive uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes (using the download directly from the site) three times now and the same errors message appears each time.

Ive also done virus scans several times, and even tried repairing and trouble shooting iTunes as well.

And instead of paying Apple $30 to tell me why their stuff doesnt work (especially when ive already purchased their high priced product) I decided to take the easy route, and ask you guys... So... Any advice?

Import Music Library into iTunes 9 ...

I installed iTunes 9, my music library is on an external hard drive. The only music iTunes recognizes as in my library is a weird selection of purchased items from my iPod - not all purchased items on my iPod and a few things that are from CDs. Also, yesterday before I installed I bought a handful of new songs on iTunes and it now says the source cannot be found for these.

This can't be that difficult. I know I can import and file or import a folder - but I have over 60G of music alone and doing that one by one will take forever. I also fear all of a sudden iTunes recognizing the location of my library and creating duplicates. I spent 2 weeks deleting duplicates the last time I had this kind of problem.

It is also not recognizing my own videos that used to be in my movie folder.

Help!
